Review:  

Carter and Elly are charming and fun all on their own but together they make a great love story.  This book made me think back on lost loves of mine that I may still have the possibility of finding once again.  It gave meaning to the romance of second chances.  To have love even once in your life, you are said to be lucky but to have the chance to meet that person again later on when you've grown up and matured more and experienced life - that's romance.  

I love the way Steph writes and the flow of the story was very consistent.  You get a great opportunity to meet the additional characters and get a good feel of what that circle is like to hang out with.  Some of the interaction reminded me of a very good episode of "Friends" with the funny jokes and banter along with the shenanigans that they seemed to pull on one another.  I hope everyone sees the compliment that was meant in that last sentence.  This book gives you a feel good notion and is an easy read for the swoonworthy seekers.  Romantic and smooth - it will take you on a joyful ride through the first meeting of the main characters all the way through a bit of angst and emotion of the second chance for love.  I'm really glad I had the opportunity to read this book and look forward to more published work from Steph Nuss.

Enchanting Ella: The Piracy Fight

Fighting the good fight.  

It gets tough.  It gets old.  Let me first preface that this post is in no way religious or political.  This is my take on the world.  Take it for what it's worth.  

 I was raised by good parents.  Raised to know right from wrong.  Raised with morals and values.  Every day I continuously experience dark, evil and wrong in this world.  It's always present.  It's always there.  The only way to fight the dark is with light.  I'm reminded of Harry Potter and one of my favorite lines/quotes from that book series.  

Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times

if one only remembers to turn on the light.

Why are we finding so many closed groups and clubs all over the internet downloading and pirating ebooks?  Facebook has become rampant with so many of these new groups giving out these books all while everyone seems to want to pretend they don't know this is wrong?  This is illegal.  This should have consequences.  What part of - here's a free song, dvd or ebook for you to have doesn't seem suspicious?  Or is it that we just now live in a world where everyone thinks they are owed something for nothing?  

Where does this all end?  Does it ever end?

It's a sad circumstance.  Not sure if it will ever go away or if there will ever be a day where there is no piracy.  We have to band together though and try our hardest to fight the good fight the best we can.  Light can vanquish the darkness.  We just have to believe.  And isn't that at the heart of the reader.... the ability to believe?  

Here's another great blog post regarding piracy in the ebook world.  Maybe this might trigger something for someone or help in some way possible.  Best of luck to all my author friends.  Here's hoping spreading the word does some bit of good.

Review:  

I heard all the "buzz" about this book floating all around Facebook, so I did what every great reader and reviewer does and obtained a copy of this book.  I'm so glad I did.  

Wreck Me had me captivated from the Prologue.  I've read so many books lately that just have me going through "the motions" that I was hoping for a book that could really grab me and hold onto me the whole way through.  Wreck Me is that book.  

The character development is strong and the love that grows between the hero and heroine is so amazing (I can't use this word enough) that my heart ached at times.  I fell in love with Jo and how she overcame her struggles from her youth, but Damon - oh Damon how I love him.  He's a great Alpha male who does everything in his power to take care of Jo and make sure that her life is everything she could ever want it to be.  

The riveting twists towards the end of this book had me staying up late because I couldn't put the book down.  This book took me over the edge and gave me a swift kick in the ass (but in a good - no scratch that, in a great way).  I can't wait for Restore Me and the next part of this couple's journey.  

Well done J.L. Mac!!  I'm captivated by Damon and Jo.

Review:

I asked for a copy of this book from the author because I had read a few episodes on her blog.  Dolls & Doms.  The author was gracious enough to send me a copy.  Needless to say, I bought the book once it was out.  This book is a keeper.

I loved Black Betty from the moment I met her.  I didn't think I could love her character more.  And then I got deeper into the book.  Black Betty and her demons are intriguing and grip you from the very moment you are introduced to her dominant ways.

Alistair Ingram is cocky and confident.  Until he meets Black Betty.  Never in his life did he think he needed or wanted to be submissive.  But then she enters his life.  And he can't seem to get enough.  And I couldn't get enough.  I couldn't put this book down.  The demons these two characters have to exorcise all while getting to know each other, was enthralling to watch.  As they fall deeper and deeper into each other they fall deeper and deeper out of their former selves.

I'm glad I requested this book because it's a damn good book and worth every moment of angst, hot sex and romance put into it.  Well done Kelli Maine, well done!

Enchanting Ella: Sleeper Books and Social Media

Sleeper books have been exploding thanks to Facebook, Twitter and Goodreads.  

Wikipedia:  A sleeper hit, also known as a surprise hit, sleep-killer or sleeper or "over night success", refers to a piece of media that gains a sudden and unexpected success or recognition. Sleeper hits often grow in popularity over time as people promote them through word of mouth marketing.  

I feel like I have a book list in my Kindle app full of some great sleeper hits.  

I know I personally have lots of criteria before I'll share a book recommendation with a friend.  I need to make sure the book is worthy of my voice.  We all have different taste in books but there's still that slim chance that I'm going to know when someone is going to love a book as much as I do.  

Facebook, Twitter and Goodreads are great sources to determine good options as well.  Not only that but there are so many great blogs out there that share information on great new releases and books from new independent authors.  

In this wonderful world of social media, it seems to be helping yet hurting the indie authors.  By helping, they are getting their new independently published books out there for all to see, read and feel.  By hurting, they are getting their books taken from Beta form or ARC form and seeing them distributed where it shouldn't be distributed.  

It's unfortunate that there will always be some dishonest folks distributing books that shouldn't be released to the public.  However, I try to always see the good out there and will always feel that the Beta copies and ARC opportunities should continue because it's a really really great way to get the word out on a great book.  Well that, and trusting my list of books.  ;)
