Brandon turned to me again and glared. I wasn’t trying to cross a line but was he really going to sit there, telling me his sex life was boring before me?

“I can’t believe we are having this conversation. Yes, Christy and I slept together, but like I told you repeatedly, we weren’t compatible.”

“So why did you stay with her for so long?” I quickly regretted my question. I didn’t want to fight with Brandon about this. We were going home and packing for Texas. I just wanted to light a fire, cook dinner, get in our PJs, give him his present, and snuggle on the couch watching a movie until it was time for bed.

We stopped at a red light and Brandon turned to me, giving me that glare again. I hated the glare; I wanted my smirk back. “I don’t know. I guess I was just passing the time until I found you. Christy and I didn’t have what you and I have, Babe. You’re my something special.”

And then my heart stopped. I knew he loved me and I loved him with all my heart, but to actually hear him call me his “something special” made me want to jump in his lap and never leave. Unfortunately, we were in the car and in San Francisco traffic. I met my urge halfway by grabbing his face with both my hands and bringing it to mine as I kissed him hard. Brandon’s hand brushed along the side of my face and in my hair and pushed my face harder into his.

The sound of the car horn behind us broke our kiss. I leaned back into my seat as Brandon started to drive again. “Sorry, let’s forget this conversation,” I said.

“Deal.” And just like that, my smirk was back.

We drove the last few blocks to our house. As we approached our house, I noticed a black car that I had never seen before sitting in the driveway. The closer we got the more details I noticed – like that it was a BMW and had a red bow on it. I turned my head to look questioningly at Brandon with wide eyes as he parked behind the Bimmer in the one car driveway.

“What’s that?” I asked as Brandon put the Range Rover in park.

“Well I couldn’t bring it on the plane tomorrow,” he said laughing.

“Is that…that’s not for me, is it?”

Question 1.  Introduce yourself to those who might not be familiar with who you are i.e. - where are you from and what are your likes / dislikes in life? 

I write under the pen name Kimberly Knight. I have lived in the Bay Area in California for about six years with my husband and spoiled cat, Precious. Before my life consumed of writing and reading romance and erotic novels, I was addicted to reality tv and dramas.
I also enjoy playing co-ed slow pitch softball in a few local leagues and playing computer games like World of Warcraft and online poker. I love my San Francisco Giants and San Jose Sharks. If they are on TV, I am watching them. I try to go to a few games each during a season.

Question 2.  Let’s talk about what inspired you to begin a writing career.  Was it a specific book or author or did you always have the writing spirit buried deep within?  

I 100% did not have the writing spirit buried deep within. A year ago, if you would have told me that I would be a new author and have written my first book, I would have laughed in your face. I was never a reader. I read the Twilight Saga and then years later, the Hunger Game Trilogy. I maybe read two of the Women's Murder Club books by James Patterson that I needed to read in the series within those years but reading was not fun or my priority.

It wasn't until April of this year that I decided to read Fifty Shades of Grey because I heard Ian Sommerhalder on the radio talking about that he was in talks to play Christian. I was like "well this could be awesome", you know since he is so HOTT. So anyway, I bought the trilogy, read it in a week (which was a complete 180 for me) and then I was having withdrawals and read it again. My husband thought I was crazy. Since then I have read over 60 books (which is huge for me). My friend and I were talking one day and were like "we should write a book." We were half joking. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to see if I could and well, I guess I did, lol. So to make a LONG story short, it wasn't a specific book or author but FSOG sparked my fire for sure!

Question 3.  Where did your book, "Where I Need To Be" originate from?  Was it a story that you started from one incident or how was it conceived inside your head?  

So like I mentioned above, my friend and I were talking and joking that we should write a book. We actually started brainstorming but she was too busy with school that she told me to write it. When I started writing, I didn't stick to our original story. I knew I wanted to use "boy" names for my main girls because I love the name Spencer for a girl. I actually texted my friend one day when I was at the gym that I was running next to a hot guy on the treadmill. One thing lead to the other and my story just formed. I knew how I wanted it to start just by that text and I knew how I wanted book one to end. Everything else came as I wrote. I wrote the part about their first fight just to write it and one day I was walking down the street and out of no where I knew how I was going to link that fight with the ending. I was smiling like an idiot walking down the street so proud of my self and actually amazed at how everything was coming together. 

Question 4.  Do you have someone specific in your life that is your idol or muse?

Actually I don't have one idol or one muse. Everyone has a special place in my life. If I take the time to get to know you, that shows I care for you deeply. Even if we have never met in person. I cherish everyone that I share my life with, even all my online friends. You know, of course my family is a huge part of my life and I wouldn't be who I am today without them but I can't just name one or two or even three people I look up to. Everyone just has a little piece of me, even if they don't realize it.

Question 5.  What is your favorite genre to read and do you have any specific books that are your favorite/s?  

If you would have asked me this question in March, I would said Crime Mysteries like the Women Murder Club books but after FSOG, that stuff is boring to me! I gotta have my romance and erotica novels now! Bared to You is my number one favorite and I can really list a ton of books. I don't want to call out bad books but that list is much shorter!

Question 6.  Spencer seems like a typical female character, a little shy and fun loving.  Did you model her after anyone specific?

I actually wouldn't say she is a typical female character. I have read so many books that the girls always go running or cry a river when shit hits the fan. In Where I Need to Be, shit hits the fan and I think Spencer handled it like a normal female. Of course since I wrote the book, Spencer has some of my characteristics but she also has some of my friends and so does Ryan. The characters are a mixture of people in my life.

Question 7.  "Where I Need To Be" has some HOT love scenes, did you find them difficult to write or did they flow freely from your imagination?  

I know what I like to read so I tried to write that. It was hard to write some of the scenes. Actually it's funny, the very first two I ever wrote where the dance scene and then what happens in the car and those flowed. Everything after was difficult for me. I actually had to skip a few and just continue with the story because I was having writers block. I wrote three scenes back to back when I finally knew what I wanted to write and um...that was fun...turned myself on ;)

 

Question 8.  "Where I Need To Be" is the first Novella in this series.  Can you tell our readers how many books they can expect? 

So far I have only planned to write three. If they are a success I am not opposed to writing more. I actually really hate when an author is so successful but won't continue the story...hint hint Twilight, FSOG, Bared to You...

Question 9.  As an Indie Author, do you have any advice for those wanting to break into the Literary world on their own?

If you have a story in mind, write it. I started to write just to see if I could. It wasn't my plan to ever publish Where I Need to Be but a few people read it as I was writing it and told me they really liked it. It got me thinking that maybe this could actually work. I currently have ten more book ideas floating in my head! So just write, you never know what will happen until you just do it! Also, get an editor. I learned so much during the editing process. 

Question 10.  Lastly, is there anything else you’d like your readers to know about this book or about yourself? 

Yes, I actually prefer to be called Kimberly and not Kim :)

Believable and good for an opening book of a trilogy

Summary:  

Spencer Marshall was done moping. After catching her boyfriend cheating with his secretary, she decides to have a girl's weekend in Vegas with her best friend Ryan. Lady Luck must be looking out for Spencer, because that weekend will change her life forever. Despite what people say, not everything stays in Vegas.

Review:  

Where I Need To Be by Kimberly Knight is the first book in the Trilogy, B&S Series. This is a short book and considered to be a Novella.   It has realistic characters, highly sexual love scenes and a little mystery mixed in.  

Spencer is an intelligent but damaged heroine.  As you are introduced to her she is in the midst of a broken heart and attempting to learn to move on with her life.  She keeps running into a Mystery Man at her local gym but never seems to be able to get to know him.  Spencer convinces her best friend Ryan to take a weekend girls trip to Vegas to get away and have some fun. Enter Mystery Man out of no where. Enter Mystery Man out of no where.  They have a fabulous dance floor exchange that will blow your mind.   

Spencer doesn’t get the opportunity to learn the Mystery Man’s name just yet but after getting back home, she finally gets to know who he is and finds that he’s just as attracted to her.  Brandon the “Mystery Man” finally approaches her at the gym.  They go on a few dates getting to know each other in the process.  Once they “get to know”each other, they finally have a romantic love scene.  HOT!   

“He crawled on top of me to lead me back further on the bed.  Leaning over, he kissed my lips and slowly slid his tongue into my mouth.  I could taste myself on him and warmth ran through me, straight to my sweet spot.” 

Where I Need To Be moves the story of the damaged Spencer through some hot and steamy sex scenes and twists & turns where her already flailing trust issues are tested to the max.  Can Brandon gain and keep her trust?  Will the challenge they are faced be resolved?  The issues that these two characters are forced to deal with will have you wondering how you would handle the situation in your own life.  

So, despite the book being brief, it kept me riveted and completely absorbed. I can’t wait for the other two books in this series!  Kimberly Knight has put together the beginning of a great love story filled with scorching sex scenes and enough intrigue to keep us guessing.
