Blog Tour - Fighting for Irish by Gina L Maxwell

Rating 5 out of 5 Steaming Hot Stars

I would read this over and over again

The writing is always amazing from this author

Review:

To say I love Gina L Maxwell's writing would be an understatement.

I've been hooked since Seducing Cinderella. Funny how life works, I'm a huge Disney fan so the title "Seducing Cinderella" totally sucked me in but when I read the actual book - that's all it took for me to hunt down this author and start to stalk her.

Considering we've met two fantastic MMA heroes in her last two books, I had no doubt that Aiden "Irish" O'Brien would be something special.

What I didn't expect is the dark undertones of this book. The fact that two broken people could put aside their issues and truly get to know each other without judgement, expectation and fear was amazing to watch unfold. This book is outstanding despite the ugly nature of some issues from each of their pasts. There is some angst but not enough to roll your eyes at or get frustrated enough to put the book down at any point. This is a great read that you can start and want to finish in one sitting. Once again Gina delivers what I consider a "3-D" written novel that has you falling in love with not just the hero but the female lead character as well.

Great Job as always Gina! <3

Book Excerpt:

Aiden tried to recall how to manipulate his features into something resembling a nonthreatening expression. It no longer came easy to him as it once had. But covering your body in brightly colored tattoos and sporting several piercings tended to make people think twice about talking to you without the counteracting friendly smile.
So Aiden would have to fake it if he wanted to find who he was looking for. She wasn’t going to just fall into his lap without a little effort on his part.
Thankfully the bartender rescued him and made the first move. The guy held out his hand and introduced himself as Johnny Anders. Aiden grasped his hand firmly and pumped it a few times. “Irish.” When Johnny raised his brows in question, he added, “Just Irish.”

Book Blurb:

He has seven days.....and seven rules to break.
District Attorney Vanessa McGregor firmly believes that structure and order are the stuff that dreams are made of. Happiness can be planned - and it starts with seven rules she's laid out for her future. But as she's organizing her best friend's wedding in Hawaii, all of Vanessa's best-laid plans are about to meet their match in a wickedly hot MMA fighter...Jackson "Jax" Maris is focused on surfing, training and fighting. That is, until he opens up his big mouth, and finds himself having to pretend he's engaged to his little sister's best friend, Vanessa. When they're force to share a romantic bungalow, however, their little charade suddenly takes a turn for the seriously sexy. And while Jax is definitely not part of Vanessa's long-term plan, he has seven days - and seven naughty nights - to turn her seven-rule plan upside down.

Review:

Jackson "Jax" Maris.  Yum.  Dark and Delicious.

He's introduced to us in Seducing Cinderella as the protective older brother of Lucie Miller.  From the moment I heard that phone call between brother and sister, I wanted to know more about Jax.

When we meet Jax and Vanessa, they don't get off to the greatest start.  As a matter of fact, they seem to be complete opposites.  But the spark is there from that first moment.  And boy does it fuel a fire.  I looked up the definition of spark.   Here's what I found:

spark

Noun
  1. A small fiery particle thrown off from a fire, alight in ashes, or produced by striking together two hard surfaces such as stone or metal.
  2. A lively young fellow.
Verb
  1. Engage in courtship.
  2. Emit sparks of fire or electricity.

The spark - it started a fire.

A fire of passion.

A fire of desire.

A fire of lust.

Truth be told a full blown blaze.  And I felt the heat.  Phew... is it hot in here right now?  Thinking back to all of the love scenes.  WOW!  I truly felt like I was right there in every scene.  Lurking.  Watching.  Wanting.  Waiting.  Feeling - oh how I felt this book.

I laughed with Vanessa at moments of humor and I cried with her too when there were moments of sadness.  Vanessa is just as amazing as Jax.  She holds her own.  She's strong, beautiful and independent but you can totally get that she does want someone to take care of her and treat her as she deserves to be treated.  Special.   And yeesh does Jackson treat her just as she deserves.

This book delivers everything I want in a great read.  There's funny banter, rough and tumble angst, a little bit of MMA action, some great spots all over the island and love scenes that knocked my socks off and then put them back on just to have them knocked off again.

Jackson "Jax" Maris has indeed stepped up to being my #1 book boyfriend.  I'm confident he will top your list as well.

Happy Release Day Gina!
